2024 MTV EMAs, South African songstress Tyla wins big
2024 has been great for South African music sensation Tyla, who continues to win. She stunned the audience during the just-concluded 2024 MTV EMAs, grabbing the prestigious Best Afrobeats award. Tyla emerged victorious over stiff competition from industry greats such as Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Rema, and Tems.



South African Tyla wins big at MTV EMAs
This significant win was just one of three awards the south african took home, making her the first African artist to achieve such a feat at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Her success highlights her exceptional artistry and marks a significant milestone for African representation on the global stage.


Tyla is the first south African and indeed african artiste to win three awards at the MTV EMAs in one night.
She won the Best Afrobeats Award, Best R&B Award, and Best African Act Award at the 2024 MTV EMAs.
For the show’s 30th anniversary, the MTV Europe Music Awards returned to the UK, held on Sunday, 10 November.
Only recently, in July 2024, was Tyla named Best New Artist at the BET Awards, beating Ayra Starr and Asake to the award.

Tyla’s debut single, Water, shot her to global fame and earned her several accolades, including the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in February 2024.
